15 easy to make and highly portable sandwiches, wraps, and pinwheels for your next horse show!

Packing a horse show lunch can be hard. Between having to get myself and my horse ready and packed along with having to wake up way too early in the morning, I don't want to spend a ton of time in the kitchen prepping my lunch. I love cooking, but the night before a horse show just isn't the time for an intense kitchen adventure. At the same time, though, I don't want a boring horse show lunch! While I sometimes get to show at venues with great food, that's not always the case. Plus sometimes it's just easier to have lunch at my horse's stall or at the trailer than taking the time to go order from the snack bar.
Why are these recipes great for horse shows?
I asked some fellow food bloggers for good horse show food ideas. My criteria for the recipes were generally that the sandwiches and wraps
- Have to be portable. If I'm walking around getting myself or my horse ready, I want to be able to take it with me. Bonus points if it can be eaten with one hand!
- Shouldn't be messy.
- Have to be able to be made ahead and kept in a cooler during the day. No reheating allowed.
Then there's this bonus recipe to have waiting at home in the freezer for the end of your horse show day - Dairy Carrie's margarita slush made in a bucket. The recipe technically uses a one-gallon ice cream pail, but I could easily see this being made in a leftover bucket from horse electrolytes. Carrie, the blogger behind this recipe, is a former barrel racer, now dairy farmer!
